Video marketing is a term that is thrown around all the time, but I really feel that people don’t understand the significance of video marketing. I had a conversation with a prospect yesterday that prompted me to try to explain what video marketing means to me personally, as well as how you can apply it to get better results for your traffic and conversions for your site. Video marketing is the single best way to get more traffic instantly online, and more importantly get more people to contact you or “buy your stuff” online. In this article I would like to show you the two most important aspects of how using video marketing will help you immediately in these two areas.
There are two common strategies of video marketing and I refer to them as “marketing WITH video” and “marketing A video”. So many times when I talk to people about video marketing they don’t really understand what I mean or how to get started using it. That’s understandable because I didn’t know anything about video marketing when I started either. As I started using video on my site, however, I noticed that more and more people started contacting me, calling and emailing, as well as making purchases without ever speaking to them. It happens all the time now because what you have to understand that if your video is out on the video sites such as Youtube, Daily Motion, Veoh, Vimeo, etc, they get viewed over and over…creating a lasting residual effect for your business.
Video Marketing – Marketing WITH Video
Let’s focus on “marketing with video” first. Some examples of marketing with video are as follows:
- An introductory video for your site. It’s my very strong opinion that a video with the owner of a small business, or someone building a personal brand should have their intro video front and center on their site…PERIOD! Don’t ask me if it works, I’m telling you it does! Go do it today at www.animoto.com or with a simple camera and upload it to Youtube to post on your site. Letting people get to know you right upfront separates you from 80% of the other websites out there. It works…go do it!
- Using Video for Newsletters or Promotions – If you’re wanting to highlight a new product or promotion, nothing can put emotion or a call to action like a video can. 90% of all internet traffic will be video by 2014. That means people LOVE watching videos to get their information versus a boring black and white text email. Start putting a simple video into your promotions and improve them over time, or use a video email service like Talk Fusion. Again, this stuff works! Not using it is costing you money everytime you make a new piece of content.
- Use Videos for Each New Article on Your Site – As we speak I’m writing this article for my outline that I will do on my video to explain this article via video. You only have so long to keep someones attention with reading, and video is proven to retain visitors longer. I would encourage you to write your thoughts down first, and go back and do a video on it immediately afterwards while it’s fresh on your mind. Place the video at the top of the page and don’t worry if it’s perfect for now! You’re giving your audience a choice of whether they want to read your content, watch a video, or both. This will help you promote products, ideas, or reach your audience on a personal level VERY effectively.
- Recording Webinars for Training or Marketing Purposes – We’ve all received them right? The latest and greatest webinars from the gurus, but WOW do they work for conversions for all types of businesses. People are busy today, and there are many webinars I’ve watched when I had the time to go back and view them. Having done webinars before, a lot of effort goes into putting one together and the information you give out can be recorded easily with services like Camtasia, Jing, and most video conferencing services offer recording options. Don’t waste an opportunity to send out your valuable information to your team or your prospects.
Video Marketing – Marketing A Video
Now lets shift our focus to “Marketing a Video”. Businesses or people who think of Video Marketing as “Marketing A Video” are typically trying to build brand awareness for their company/products/personal brand. You’re trying to give your viewers a taste of the brand or concept in a concise package that can travel anywhere and that is designed to be shared. If you’re lucky, a video can be so compelling that it will market itself and you have created the elusive viral video. Let’s break down the components of video marketing through the most effective strategies that I’ve seen work personally:
Video Distribution – There are many video distribution sites out as I mentioned earlier, and I use them with great effectiveness personally to drive traffic to my websites. Video marketing with distributing video to multiple sites is a bypass to the proverbial “first page of Google” theory that is EXTREMELY hard to achieve. Depending on how good your videos are, about 1 out of 8 people will visit your website from a video on a site such as Youtube or DailyMotion.
I use Traffic Geyser to distribute my videos and its amazing imo. Traffic Geyser helps with article marketing and multiple blog posts too, but they are great at sending my videos out to multiple sites instantly, backlinking them for strengthening my results on Youtube and DailyMotion, and giving each of my articles strength too within the search engines. OneLoad is a free version you can use but its limited compare to Traffic Geyser. I can’t stress how much you differentiate yourself from the competition by distributing videos with back links to multiple sites, and MAKE SURE you put a link to your site beginning with http://yourdomainname.com By putting http:// you’re creating an instant back link to your original content. I’m amazed of videos I have seen with thousands of views, with no information or website to link to for the visitor to click. Don’t make that mistake!
You’re basically providing a “web” of traffic sources by distributing your videos in multiple places and this continues to provide traffic forever once you’ve made the video.
Let me give you an analogy to explain my reasoning for multiple sites, and gathering links to your original content or sales page. Let’s say you make a video, do what most people do and put it up on Youtube. Good enough right? I take your same video and distribute it to 15 video sites on Traffic Geyser or TubeMogul, link it to the original blog content, and then go to Youtube and put it in TribePro for the final step to “anchor” the video with link and social bookmarking juice. I would venture to say that your video would perform 30-50 times better at a minimum with no exaggeration.
Traffic Geyser and TribePro is the best combination I’ve found to market videos to increase traffic on the videos which in turn drives traffic to your site. If your budget only allows one tool to improve your traffic and video marketing efforts, get TribePro. I’ve said it a thousand times and I’ll say it again, Tribe Pro is the “Magic Bullet” for marketing online. The best marketers in the world use it for a reason, and if you have $50 a month to spend on marketing, so should you.
Let me know if have questions on these marketing strategies if you’re serious about building a successful video marketing presence online. It’s time to get yourself in the video marketing game folks…I’d love to help. Have a fantastic day!
