What is an Easy Way to Have Success in MLM?
One of the biggest challenges in the network marketing industry for most people is to be able to use their time wisely to achieve success in MLM part-time. In fact, 95% of the people that join an MLM do so on a part-time basis. Many have full time jobs elsewhere, but the fact remains that most people start a home based business do so with the intention of making additional income.
There are many obstacles to managing our time effectively as we all know. Kids ballgames, hobbies, watching TV, surfing the internet, and quite frankly it comes down to prioritizing our time to get the most out of the time we have available to build our business.
I often ask myself a question as to “What is the most important thing I can do right now?” Whether its simply to relax, read a personal development book, listen to something positive, call a prospect, send out samples, follow up, connect with my children or focus on other relationships. All of these play a part in my daily life, and we all have similar options when it comes to managing our time.
I remember when I was kid growing up I wanted to be a competitive golfer. I went to school during the week, but after school and on most weekends I would hit balls on the range, chip and putt all over the golf course to different spots in addition to the putting green. We would have games that would include hitting a tree from 80-100 yds in 2 or 3 shots just to break up the time on the range. I used to hit hundreds of balls a day to groove my swing, but when that got old I would grab a buddy and go play those games out on the course. We would play until it got dark, and it was just a couple of us out there, so we could care less if anyone knew we were practicing on our games. We were just having fun playing for cokes and candy bars! 🙂
We were determined to get better at golf, loved the game, and to this day my friend and I are both pretty decent golfers because of all the time we practiced on our skills when we were kids. You see a golfer spends a lot of time working on his game when no one is watching. It’s an individual sport so it doesn’t require a team to pass you the ball, run a play, or play a certain position. It’s you against the course.
That’s how life is isn’t it? We all have the desire to do more, be more, and have more but are we willing to make the sacrifice to actually make those things happen? In order to be a good golfer, you simply can’t show up for a tournament and play your best golf (unless your John Daly). It takes hours and hours, month after month, year after year to hone your skill to play at a high level. The top 200 golfers in the world are separated by a couple of shots a round from #1 to 200. Two shots! That’s a putt here, and a chip there…that’s it! The major difference is the preparation and elimination of mistakes.
How Does Practicing Golf Relate to Success in MLM?
So let’s take that to our own situation. The difference between success in MLM and failure is that the successful network marketers spend their time wisely calling a couple more prospects, exposing their business to a few more people, and working with their team members to help them be successful. So how do we spend our time increase our chance to have success in MLM?
- Work on yourself first – Read or listen to something positive at least 15 minutes a day. Learn a new skill, read about a new technique you can use, or prepare yourself mentally with good thoughts daily.
- Set Manageable Prospecting Goals – If you’re part time, try to contact at least 3 people a day about your business. People lead to other people. It’s no secret that if you add new people to your business, you will invariably have success over time.
- Follow the Leader – Staying plugged in to your company, and talk ing to leaders is the best way to increase your chance of success in MLM. Listening to naysayers, however, will lead to destruction or failure in MLM.
- Be Consistent – We all have lots of choices everyday. You can watch TV or you can work on your business. You can write a blog, or you can call a couple of people in that same amount of time. If you want success in MLM, consistency is the key.
So the next time you have some free time on your hands, try asking yourself the question I use “What’s the most important thing I can do right now?” Use your time wisely, prospect consistently, follow up consistently, and you too will start to build a successful MLM business! Also try to find a friend or accountability partner to break things up and have fun building your business. It helps if they have similar goals, but having fun with someone trying to achieve the same thing can help tremendously. I wish you all the best!
By the way…Here I am late in the evening hitting balls on the range by myself. I took a video to look at my swing to correct my swingplane! A little short and flat, but that’s why you take the video camera. Gonna be a good year to play golf!
