A Life Changing Decision
“You Miss 100% of the Shots You Don’t Take” – Wayne Gretzky
Last week My wife and I were debating whether or not to go out to Salt Lake City for a ski trip. We had a friend out there that had everything planned with flight tickets, a free place to stay, lift ticket discounts, ski rental discounts…the whole nine! However, there was no snow!! Not much anyway. You see the snowfall in Utah was the lowest they’ve had in the past 80 years from what I understand, and the resorts were struggling due to conditions beyond their control.
We looked at the forecast and it was calling for snow while we were there, so we took a chance, kept our flight plans, and headed on out. When we arrived in Salt Lake City it was 50 Degrees, no snow in sight except for on the mountains which is fairly typical. We went to sleep, praying for snow, and we decided to let the chips fall where they may.
When we woke up the next morning you couldn’t see the mountains very well…this is good. Fog in the mountains means snow…lots of snow! We got lucky and arrived on the first “Powder Day” of the year in Park City, UT. There was virtually no one there, and the snow continued to pour down the entire day while we were skiing. It snowed 28 Inches the first 24 hours we were there…wow! Visibility wasn’t the best because you couldn’t see very far in front of you, but the snow was fantastic!! By far, this was the best skiing conditions I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing.
The next day was even better! The snow had stopped falling, but by now the mountains had received 42 Inches of snow in 48 Hours. The snow was still incredible on the slopes, the Sun came out, and the views were breathtaking! I’ve never seen anything quite like it…words can’t describe the views on top of the mountain. To me, it was a heaven on Earth as far as scenery goes. If you haven’t been, my hopes are that you will be able to at some point in your life. It’s just an awesome, awesome experience!
So all of our fears we had before we left were now gone. We doubted the “unknown” but we took a chance and it turned out to be a perfect weekend. Two days before there were rocks on the slopes, trees coming through the base, sloshy conditions, and the resorts were empty because no one was there. We’re so glad we took that chance as it made for a weekend we’ll never forget!
There are times in all of our lives that we encounter the “unknown”, but we refuse to take chances to better our situation because we just don’t know what’s on the “other side”. What’s the worst thing that could happen by taking a chance on a situation? For us, we could have gone to the Sundance Festival in Park City, seen movie stars, met some new people, or watched the Football Playoff Games in a cool sports bar in the resort area IF the snow didn’t come while we were there. Either way, we would make the most of the situation. At this very moment, we’re living in uncharted economic uncertainty. The job market is down, and many of us live in fear of what’s going to happen next month, next week, or even tomorrow. Though you have to be cautious with your money, not taking a chance to improve your situation is a big mistake in my opinion. Now is the best time ever (It’s the “Powder Day” in Utah for business) to start a home based business that I’ve ever experienced. Did you know that more millionaires were created during The Great Depression (in the 20’s) that at any other time in history?
More people are losing hope, losing jobs, so it makes sense that more people are looking for opportunities to improve their situation. They’re “hungry”, they have families, and they are willing to do whatever it takes to change their financial situations immediately. I’ve experienced some amazing stories within my own company, and I’m currently re-writing my future plans as we speak. I’m excited at the possibilities!
So if you’re looking for a life raft, a sign of hope, a ray of sunshine…you’re not alone. But you have to take a chance and make a decision that you control your own destiny. Make a decision that your future shouldn’t be determined by chance, luck, or hoping and wishing. Hard work, determination, strong BELIEF, and following a proven system with the right opportunity can change your life faster than you think. It’s amazing that the harder I work, the luckier I get…everytime! 🙂
We got on a plane last week hoping and praying for snow when there was none in sight before we left. Our prayers were answered, and it turned out to be one of the greatest weekends of my life. My prayer is that you will take a leap of faith that you can alter your direction, your destiny, create something you can be proud of, and start dreaming again.
